About The Port Of Xian
Xi'an anchors the eastern end of the Silk Road and served as capital for more than a dozen Chinese dynasties. Its enduring landmark lies just outside the city: the Terracotta Warriors, thousands of life-sized clay soldiers built to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huangdi, China's first emperor, and uncovered by farmers in 1974. Within the city, the Ming-dynasty City Wall, completed in 1378, remains one of the best-preserved ancient fortifications in China, while the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda recalls the era of Buddhist scholarship that once flourished here.
Most visits combine the excavation site with a walk along or atop the City Wall, giving travelers a tangible sense of both imperial ambition and everyday urban life across two millennia. Xi'an also serves as a practical gateway for onward rail connections deeper into China, including high-speed links to Chengdu.
