Talkeetna sits at the confluence of the Talkeetna, Susitna, and Chulitna Rivers, with Denali rising to the north on clear days. Once a supply town for gold miners and now a staging point for climbers attempting North America's tallest peak, its compact historic district retains log cabins, small museums, and a frontier character that has changed little over the decades.
