About the Port
Lautoka, Fiji's second-largest city, sits on the western coast of Viti Levu, some 24 kilometers north of Nadi. Long known as the Sugar City for the cane fields that surround it and the historic Lautoka Sugar Mill dating to 1903, the town retains a relaxed, colonial-era charm with tree-lined streets, weathered timber homes, and a lively outdoor market where produce and handicrafts change hands daily. It is also the birthplace of golfer Vijay Singh, a point of local pride.
Beyond the town, the surrounding Sun Coast unfolds into grass-covered peaks, rural villages, and market towns, while the South Sea Orchid Garden offers a quiet, tropical counterpoint to the working port. The pier lies within easy reach of the compact center, making it simple to explore on foot, and Lautoka also serves as a practical gateway for onward travel through nearby Nadi.
