About the Port
Set high on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Delphi was regarded by the ancients as the spiritual center of the earth. For centuries its oracle, housed within the Temple of Apollo, drew leaders and pilgrims seeking guidance, making the sanctuary one of the most influential religious sites of the classical world. Today the ruins, including temple foundations, treasury remains, and the Castalian Spring, form a UNESCO World Heritage Site set against dramatic mountain terrain.
Delphi lies inland, reached by road through the Greek mainland rather than directly from the coast, making it a common inland excursion from nearby ports. Walking paths wind through the archaeological grounds, past the temple terrace and ancient theater, with sweeping views over the valley below. A small on-site museum displays artifacts recovered from the sanctuary, offering context for the ruins and their enduring place in Greek history and myth.
