About The Port Of Blaye
Blaye sits on the Gironde estuary north of Bordeaux, a small river town best known for its formidable citadel. Built under the direction of the military engineer Vauban in the seventeenth century, the fortress was designed to guard the river approach to Bordeaux and today forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage designation shared with other Vauban strongholds.
