ITINERARY

Day: 1
Nestled at the foot of Mount Meru in northern Tanzania, Arusha is your gateway to safari adventures in the region, a bustling hub for explorers like you. Unwind after your flight and prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day: 2
Fly to Tarangire National Park, a land of giants where herds of up to 300 elephants and ancient baobab trees showcase nature's grandeur. The park’s most outstanding feature is the Tarangire River, the only reliable dry-season source of water available to wildlife in a vast stretch of Tanzania's Rift Valley, ensuring this park is home to the second-highest concentration of wildlife in the country after the Serengeti. Set in a secluded area of the park for a more exclusive safari experience, Swala Camp's large tents are built on raised decks under umbrella acacia trees overlooking a popular watering hole. The layout of this eco-friendly abode is very open, with resident herds of impala often grazing in camp. Settle in before setting out on your first game drive.

Day: 3
Embark on morning and afternoon game drives to explore Tarangire National Park. Look out for a stunning concentration of animals — herds of elephants, impala and zebras — along with pythons or the twitching tail of a leopard, possibly lurking above in a sausage tree. Later, back at Swala, cool off in the pool and experience true arm-chair game viewing, a unique advantage of your camp.

Day: 4
Today, board a flight to Ndutu and transfer overland to Tanzania's next wonder. Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders, formed two to three million years ago by a massive volcanic eruption. This vast caldera, surrounded by towering walls, is teeming with wildlife: wildebeest, zebras, buffalo and gazelle are abundant on the plains, while elephants, black rhinos, lions and hippos can be tracked by experienced safari guides. The soda lake, adorned with flamingos during parts of the year, adds a vibrant touch to this remarkable experience. Your luxury tented accommodation, Ngorongoro Crater Camp, is located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, just a short drive from the wildlife-rich crater floor. This extraordinary setting affords big-sky savanna views over acacia woodlands and the Ndutu plains, with roaming giraffes a common sight.

Day: 5
Set out on a full-day, expert-led game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, delving into the thick of this unique and extraordinarily biodiverse habitat. Afterward, visit a Maasai boma for an introduction to the traditional lifestyle and culture of this enduring semi-nomadic people.

Day: 6
The Serengeti, one of the planet's biggest and most iconic wildlife havens, stretches from the Ngorongoro Highlands almost to Lake Victoria (an area about the size of New Jersey) and presents the oldest and largest ecosystem on the planet. It is home to more than three million large animals across dozens of species, including enormous herds of wildebeest and zebras along with the predators who stalk them. Fly to Serengeti National Park and transfer to your camp, set among sweeping grasslands, open plains and rocky kopjes. Kichakani Camp affords a front-row seat to the annual Great Migration and the Serengeti’s year-round wildlife spectacle.

Day: 7
Revel in true safari country, searching for iconic species such as lions, leopards, Cape buffalo and elephants, as well as giraffes, gazelle and zebras. Along the rivers and rocky outcrops, you may also spot some of the Serengeti's more diminutive denizens, such as leopard tortoises and rhinoceros beetles.

Day: 8
Immerse yourself on a third day in this incredible setting, your camera at the ready as you track grazers and predators on the vast, golden grasslands of the Serengeti.

Day: 9
Fly to Arusha, where you relax in a reserved dayroom before taking your private transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
